Michael Keough, Co-Founder & President

With more than 30 years of experience in the waste management industry, Co-Founder and President Michael Keough specializes in highly efficient, environmentally sound, and cost-effective waste recycling solutions for businesses and organizations nationwide.

In 2003, Michael and his wife Julie founded FTK Group, Inc. in response to the lack of convenient, secure and environmentally responsible options for the disposal of electronics, computers and sensitive documents. In September, 2008, Secure Destruction Business magazine listed FTK Group among the top twenty electronics scrap recyclers in the U.S. and Canada. Additionally, FTK Group was named the 12th largest electronics recycling facility in the country according to 2009 a poll by Recycling Today magazine.

A graduate of the University of Maryland College Park, Michael was a founding member of the Howard County Green Business Council. He was named "Innovator of the Year" by the Maryland Daily Record in 2004, was included in Baltimore's SmartCEO "Future50" in 2008, 2009, and was a "Future50 Emerging Growth" recipient in 2011.

Michael is also the founder, President and CEO of Integrated Waste Analysts, Inc., a solid waste and recycling management company.

As Co-Founder and CEO of FTK Group, Inc., Julie Keough plays a vital role in the company's development of state-of-the-art equipment and processes that safely destroy and recycle proprietary information from computers, electronics and documents.

Prior to founding FTK Group, Inc. with her husband Michael, Julie worked as an electrical engineer. She has served as a channel account manager for Mentor Technologies and a technical services manager for a leading application lifecycle management company, McCabe & Associates.

As an advocate for social responsibility, Julie continuously strives to improve the practices at FTK Group. She has founded programs with partner organizations Humanim, The Arc of Howard County, The Way Station, and DORs to provide jobs opportunities and training to disabled individuals. Through further partnering with Our Daily Bread and Grassroots, FTK Group has been successful in providing training and job opportunities to individual who are homeless. She has also assisted in implementing a program with MakingCHANGE to educate workers on making more responsible financial decision.

FTK Group has received the 2011 "James W. Rouse Diversity Award" from the Chesapeake Human Relations Association, the 2010 "Business Leadership Award" from the Howard County Commission on Disability Issues, and a "Celebration of Excellence" from the Arc of Howard County in 2009. Through the implementation of Julie's hard work, FTK Group has received many accolades. In 2009 she was selected as a "Brava!" Women Business Achievement Award winner by Smart CEO Magazine. She holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Maryland College Park and a master's degree in business administration from Loyola College.
